360 CHICAGO Presents: CloudWalk Call for Artists

Showcase Your Art at Chicago’s Highest Gallery

360 CHICAGO invites local Chicago artists to submit their creative visions for CloudWalk—the city’s highest outdoor art exhibit. Submissions must capture a Chicago-themed concept that embodies the spirit, community and vibrancy of the city to further 360 CHICAGO's mission of celebrating the city it resides in, while educating curious travelers about the diverse culture and people within the 77 neighborhoods.
Selected Artist Commission Rate: $10,000
One talented artist will be selected for this high-profile installation and will receive a $10,000 commission to bring their vision to life at CloudWalk. The installation will be on display beginning May 2025 as the inaugural artist for CloudWalk as an official rotating art gallery, transforming CloudWalk into a memorable art experience that celebrates Chicago’s diverse artistic community and unique perspectives.

Submission Deadline: February 2, 2025
Artists of all mediums are encouraged to apply. Submissions must capture a Chicago-themed concept that embodies the spirit, community and vibrancy of the city. Installation concepts may be sculptural, immersive, interactive or muralistic in nature and should creatively engage visitors in the CloudWalk space.

  • Submissions should incorporate Chicago-centric themes such as community, innovation, urban life and natural beauty. Please also review the CloudWalk Reference Guide.
  • Artists are encouraged to think creatively about the CloudWalk space, embracing its panoramic views and unique setting.
  • The installation should allow light to pass through CloudWalk’s windows, preserving the iconic views for all guests.
  • Weather Considerations: As CloudWalk is an outdoor space, concepts must be durable and suitable for exposure to varying weather conditions, including temperature fluctuations, rain and wind. Selected installations should be able to withstand Chicago’s changing seasons.

  • A brief description about your concept and how it connects to Chicago’s character.
  • Design sketches, renderings or visuals of your proposed installation.
  • A resume or CV, including a portfolio of past works.

To qualify, artists must meet the following criteria:

  • Residency: Must reside in the Chicagoland area.
  • Age: 18 years or older.
  • Experience: Must have experience with commissioned work.

A panel of Chicago-based art and community leaders will review all submissions. Three finalists will be awarded $200 each, and one inaugural artist will be selected and commissioned for the full $10,000 to complete their installation.

Finalists will be notified in early 2025, and the selected artist will be announced shortly thereafter.

Current Installation

Local, Korean American artist, Katie Chung, the most recent artist to exhibit at CloudWalk, has reimagined the space with a painted floor and window mural titled “Locals Only.” The large-scale mural is inspired by the wide range of cultures, landmarks, and architecture encountered daily in Chicago. The designs and chosen colors pay homage to the Chicago flag, the ornamental architecture in Chinatown, the grand entrance into Little Village and more.
