The City of Chicago is delighted to present the Air and Water Show on August 16th & 17th, 2025, with a rehearsal on Friday August 15th. Now in its 63rd year, with a reported attendance of up to two million annually, you’ll see performances from a selection of top civilian and military pilots and aircraft, such as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, and the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights. There’s no public seating areas available at the event, so you’re encouraged to stake out their viewing spots early along the lakefront from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point.

The vehicles are decorated with lights and artwork, and Santa greets riders from his sleigh from an open-air flatcar carrying his reindeer. The Ice Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park in the Chicago Loop is a lovely, leisurely skate through a winding path around the park, with fantastic views of the Chicago Skyline. Skating here is popular, so participants need to buy timed tickets. Book ahead! Alternatively, Ice skating at Millenium Park at the McCormick Tribune Plaza is also a popular favorite. Skate on one of the two public ice rinks with views of "The Bean" while you glide and twirl. Skate rentals are available at both parks if you don't have your own (and you probably didn't bring any in your luggage).
